Dr. Kahan Sablo joined the Wellness Homes team in May of 2024 to serve as a Mental Health Therapist and Weight Loss Coordinator. In this capacity, he provides counseling support to clients, which includes serving as the primary therapist for individuals in the weight loss program. Having lost over 200 lbs on his personal weight loss journey, Dr. Sablo enjoys empowering clients with new ways of thinking to support their individual weight loss goals.
Dr. Sablo is enjoying a 25+ year career as a higher education executive. With a solid track record of being an advocate for historically marginalized communities, he currently serves as the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and inclusion at Adler University. As an African American/Latino, same gender-loving (gay) man, he enjoys counseling clients with intersectional identities.
Empowering clients to reframe unproductive thinking, Dr. Sablo uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person Centered Theory (PCT) during therapy sessions. He is intrinsically committed to the mental health of the African American community - particularly men of color and the LGBTQ+ community. In addition, as a licensed minister, he enjoys engaging with people of faith - particularly those from African American spiritual traditions.
Dr. Sablo earned a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Paramedic certificate, culminating 25+ years of volunteer EMS service. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Justice and Master of Science degree in Counseling and Psychological Services, both from SUNY Oswego. In addition, he has a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Fordham University and a Doctor of Education (D.Ed.) degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
