Behavioral Health Provider, Northstar
We all have unique life stories, and I am interested in yours. I utilize a strengths-based, client-centered approach to meet you where you’re at, however, I will not leave you there. Together we will work toward reaching your individual goals. I am a board-certified clinical psychotherapist and have been working in the behavioral health field since 2008. I completed my Master's Degree in Social Work from Loyola University - Chicago, am a Certified Alcohol and other Drugs of Abuse Counselor (CADC), and am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
My helping journey began in 2008 as an HIV prevention outreach worker engaging with under-served individuals throughout Chicago, which is where my training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) began. Other disciplines I have trained in include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy, Harm Reduction and Abstinence based Addiction Therapies, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and Self-Compassion. The individuals I work with may be struggling with alcohol and drug misuse, sex and/or chem-sex addiction, ADHD, anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, relationship difficulties, trauma, and low self-esteem.
My life and professional experiences have taught me the importance of a non-judgmental, collaborative, engaging, and empathic approach in providing a safe and trusting environment that is necessary for people in distress to identify and change self-defeating behaviors and thought patterns allowing them the room for growth and an understanding of their authentic self. I am LGBTQ+ allied, sex-positive/kink/BDSM allied, HIV/AIDS allied, open relationships/non-monogamy/polyam allied, racial justice allied, sex worker affirming, body positive, trauma-informed, and veterans informed.
I invite you to reach out for a consultation to determine if we would be a good fit. I look forward to hearing from you!
