Dr. Kahan Sablo

Dr. Kahan Sablo joined the Wellness Homes team in May of 2024. He currently serves as a Mental Health Therapist and Behavioral Health Program Manager for the Center for Obesity & Cardiometabolic Health/Dr. Mo’s 20N8 Weight Loss Program. In addition to providing counseling therapy services to all clients, he oversees the mental health care of individuals participating in the weight loss program. Having lost over 220 lbs on his personal weight loss journey, Dr. Sablo enjoys empowering clients with new ways of thinking to support individual weight loss goals.  

Dr. Sablo is enjoying a 25+ year career as a higher education executive, which includes serving as an advocate and counselor for historically marginalized communities. Dr. Sablo uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person Centered Therapy (PCT) to empower people to reframe unproductive thinking and expectations. 

As an African American/Latino, same-gender-loving (gay), Christian man, Dr. Sablo enjoys counseling clients with intersectional identities. Although he enjoys providing care to all clients, he is intrinsically concerned about the mental health of the African American community, especially men of color and the LGBTQ+ community.  In addition, as a licensed minister, he enjoys engaging with people of faith, particularly those from African American spiritual traditions.   

Dr. Sablo earned a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Paramedic certificate, culminating 25+ years of volunteer EMS service. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Justice and a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Psychological Services, both from SUNY Oswego. In addition, Dr. Sablo has a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Fordham University and an earned Doctor of Education (D.Ed..) degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
