PMHNP-BC

April Guilliams is an ANCC board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with 6 years of evidence-based prescribing experience backed by 6 years’ experience with inpatient mental health units and other various nursing experiences (Paramedic, ER, Med/Surg). She attained both my Bachelor’s of Nursing (2007) and Master’s (2019) from OSF St Francis College of Nursing in Peoria, Illinois. Her approach is client-centered with a focus on providing medication management coupled with non-medication suggestions for a holistic approach.

She treats across the lifespan with a current emphasis on adults. Her areas of interest include Bipolar Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Her primary goal is suicide prevention, but just as important, she would like everyone to have access to care. If you have a complex case, please still schedule an appointment so that you can discuss next steps. You matter.

Working with Wellness Home Behavioral Health not only links medical services to psychiatric services like therapy and social services, but allows for cutting-edge diagnostic tools like Neuropsychological Testing and Brainview, as well as treatments highly sought after like Genesight Testing, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, and Ketamine. Treatment decisions are made with Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy support throughout the process.

Personally, she enjoys reading, traveling, spending time with her family, and her 4 Yorkies (Lily, Rocky, JJ, and Layla). “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” Steve Jobs. She loves helping people recognize where they are struggling and decide what direction they would like to go. She provides a judgment-free zone where you can be your authentic self, feel recognized, and heard. Let her assist in unlocking your full potential!
